John (Oscar) Ekins, who was born at St. Neots, Huntingdonshire, but resident at Ricksmanworth, Hertfordshire on his enlistment, was killed in action in Belgium on 25 September 1915, while serving in the 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade. Aged 28 years, he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial at Hainaut.
