Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (263 Corpl. J. N. Rownsley, 18th Hussars) edge bruising, very fine £80-100

John N. Rownsley was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 18th Hussars at Westminster on 29 March 1858, aged 20 years. He was discharged being unfit for further service on 8 May 1877. His disability was chronic ulcers on his right leg - originating from a kick from a horse while on duty at Bangalore in 1872. Sold with copied service papers.
