Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Navarino (Wm. Henry Brown, Purser) nearly very fine £1000-1200

William Henry Brown entered the Royal Navy in May 1813, and was promoted Paymaster and Purser with seniority from 11 January 1823, and appointed as Paymaster of the Falmouth 20 on the West Indies station. In September 1823 he was appointed to the Weazle 10 in the Mediterranean, where he served for seven years and was actively engaged in the suppression of piracy. In April 1827 he was removed to the Musquito 10, in which brig-sloop he was present at the battle of Navarino on 27 October of that year. He continued to serve in the Mediterranean and in March 1845 was appointed Clerk-in-Charge of the Ceylon receiving-ship at Malta. In January 1851 he was appointed in a similar capacity to the Dockyard in Antigua, where he remained until being placed on the retired list in 1855. Sold with full research.
