Auction Catalogue
Edward IV (First reign, 1461-1470), Heavy coinage, Halfpenny, London, mm. unclear, broken quatrefoils [or saltires over quatrefoils] by neck, 0.48g/7h (cf. Withers 4; B & W II and III; N 1546; S 1990-1). Good fine, very rare (£80-100)
The weight, at 7.5 grains, makes this unequivocally a heavy coinage issue. Exactly what the overstruck or cancelled marks are by the neck is open to interpretation. Nothing like them is mentioned by either Blunt and Whitton or Withers and no comparable examples were included in the Buck or Delmé-Radcliffe collections
