William Clyde was born in Mountjoy, Co. Tyrone and enlisted at Omagh. Serving with the 10th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, he was killed in action on the 1st day of the battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916, aged 18 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of Archibald and Isabella Clyde of Botera, Omagh, Co. Tyrone.
