William Reginald Norris was born in Abertysswy, Monmouthshire on 7 August 1918. A Colliers Help by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Air Force as an Aircraftsman 2nd Class on 27 January 1938. He became a A.C. 1 in November 1939, L.A.C. in April 1940 and was promoted to Temporary Corporal in December 1940. During the war he served with No.3 Squadron, November 1939-July 1940; No.232 Squadron, July 1940-January 1941; 25 O.T.U., January 1941-April 1942; No.601 Squadron, April 1942-February 1944 - during which time he served in the Middle East; 90 W.U., February-March 1944; No.18 Squadron, March 1944-March 1945. He was awarded a Good Conduct Badge on 27 January 1941. Norris was discharged on 25 October 1949 ‘Services no longer required on enlistment into the Territorial Army’. He was discharged from the R.A.S.C. T.A. on 29 October 1951. Sold with original R.A.F. Certificate of Service and Discharge; T.A. Certificate of Service; Airman’s Service and Paybook; N.H.S. Medical Card; Pensions Card; a postcard and 15 photographs of the recipient and others, in uniform.
