1664 Private Irwin John Flynn, 8th Manchester Regiment, entered the Egypt theatre of war on 25 September 1914. The regiment, forming part of the Manchester Brigade of the East Lancashire Division, served in Gallipoli. Serving throughout the war, Flynn was disembodied on 25 February 1919. Information with the lot suggests the recipient emigrated to Canada in the 1930’s, returned to England to serve in the Second World War before returning again to Canada.

Flynn P.L.’ and ‘12th Moose Jaw, 1935’, in Crightons, Moose Jaw card box of issue; City of Manchester, Child Welfare Centre, Weight Card, for Leslie John Flynn of 8 East Grove, October/November 1945; brown leather cigar holder, two-piece, with Royal crest on front; The New Testament, inside inscribed, ‘To Jackie, In token of your Confirmation, March 16th 1931, with love from Flo and Ben ....’ Sold with copied research and two CD-R disks (unread) entitled ‘1/8 Manchesters Gallipoli’ and ‘1/8 Manchester R. 1916 War Diary’.
