Daniel Williams, a native of Leeswood, near Wold, Flintshire, joined the Army in 1914. Serving with the R.A.M.C. he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 27 July 1915. He served as a stretcher bearer in some of the major battles of the war - Somme and Ypres, was gassed and was for three months unable to see. Postwar he served as a Police Constable in the Liverpool Police where he served for 31 years. In the Liverpool and Bootle Constabulary he gave ‘Exemplary service and was commended on two occasions for exceptional police work in connection with the detection of crime.’
Sold with three original photographs. In the first he is in his army uniform, shown wearing his Red Cross qualification badge, good conduct stripe and wound emblem, in the second he appears in a hospital and in the third he is shown in his police uniform. Also with copied m.i.c. and some notes on service.
