Captain Arkwright Richard Cooper went to France with the 4th Bn. Worcestershire Regiment and was awarded the D.S.O. London Gazette 26 July 1917, for gallantry in the battle of Dorian when serving with the 11th Bn. in Salonika: ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He passed through the barrage several times when organising his company and was severely wounded when doing so. He remained in command and personally led the assault and did not leave his men until the objective was gained.’ Mentioned in Despatches London Gazette 27 November 1917. Sold with additional research including a copy portrait photograph.
