A King’s South Africa Medal to Private P. Stratford, Rifle Brigade, who was later killed in action during the Great War on the Western Front on 25 September 1915

Percy Samuel Stratford attested into the Rifle Brigade and served in South Africa during the Boer War with the 2nd Battalion. He is additionally entitled to a Queen’s South Africa Medal with three clasps; Transvaal, Defence of Ladysmith and Laing’s Nek. Recalled for service during the Great War, he was killed in action on 25 September 1915, whilst serving with the 9th Battalion, and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
