George Cameron Baird was born in Perth on 6 October 1912 and qualified in dentistry with L.D.S., R.C.S. in 1933. He was commissioned into the Royal Air Force on 14 November 1939 with the war substantive rank of Flying Officer, and was promoted to Flight Lieutenant on 14 November 1940. In March 1947 he was promoted to Squadron Leader and in July 1952 he attained the rank of Wing Commander. He retired from the Dental Branch of the R.A.F. on 1 April 1963, and died in Weymouth in March 1992.
