Dix Noonan Webb, February 2010.
Stanislaus Takawira Jojo Nhandara attested for the British South Africa Police on 11 April 1944, following in the footsteps of his father, No. 7723 Sgt. Jojo. Raised Station Sergeant, he was awarded the Colonial Police Long Service Medal in 1962 ‘in recognition of having served 18 years in the Police’. The citation adds: ‘He has continued to serve loyally and faithfully and he is, therefore, recommended for the award of the Colonial Police Medal for Meritorious Service’. Sadly, this does not appear to ever have been gazetted.
Taking his retirement from Harare Sub Station on 30 July 1969, Nhandara later became a caretaker at the Harare National Sports Centre.
