Leonard William Thain served in the Balkan theatre of operations with the Suffolk Yeomanry from 8 October 1915, the reverse to his MIC recording his home address as ‘Decoy Poultry Farm, Ashby, Nr. Lowestoft’. Appointed to a Commission in the Lincolnshire Regiment 27 March 1917, he transferred post-war to the Royal Artillery (T.A.) as Battery Quartermaster Sergeant and was awarded the Territorial Efficiency Medal in 1927.
