Marjorie A. Chilcott was born in Bridgwater, Somerset, in 1915, and enlisted in the Auxiliary Territorial Service in 1941. Transferring to the Women’s Royal Army Corps, she later served in Kenya during the Mau Mau uprising and was one of just 7 officers and 70 other ranks of the W.R.A.C. who received the AGS medal with Kenya clasp. Her L.S.G.C. Medal was later announced in List No. 47 of 1960.
