Stanley Walter Hunter was born in Friston, Suffolk, and was the son of Mr and Mrs G. Hunter of the Eight Bells Inn, Kelsale, Saxmundham. He served during the Great War with the 9th (Service) Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 13 September 1916. Private Hunter is buried in the Serre Road Cemetery No. 2, Somme, France.
