Frederick John Petch attested for the Suffolk Regiment in September 1910. He served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion, Suffolk Regiment on the Western Front from 15 August 1914. Petch was taken prisoner of war at Le Cateau on 26 August 1914. He was discharged due to wounds on 26 March 1919 (entitled to Silver War Badge).
