Walter Victor Taylor was born in Kingston, Surrey, on 25 October 1897 and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Second Class on 23 September 1913. He served during the Great War in H.M.S. Clan McNaughton from 11 December 1914, and was killed when the Clan McNaughton sunk during a severe gale off the north west coast of Ireland with the loss of all hands on 3 February 1915. He is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
