D.C.M. London Gazette 17 April 1917:
‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He single-handed took a machine gun forward and opened fire on the enemy, thereby greatly assisting in repelling an enemy attack.’
Annotated Gazette states: ‘South of Miraumont, 17 February 1917.’
Bertram Croft attested for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps and served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 20 December 1914.
