Charles Guignard were importers of clocks and gold and silver watch cases from France and Switzerland. Guignard’s sponsor mark was first recorded at the London Assay Office on 21 January 1907, at the address 52 Myddleton Square, Clerkenwell, London - probably in anticipation of the change in British Law (which took effect on 1 June 1907), requiring the hallmarking of all imported gold and silver watch cases by a British assay office.
