Medieval, Byzantine, A bronze enkolpion reliquary cross, 11th-13th century, 7.5cm high by 3.8cm wide; cast in two halves with hinges (detached) top and bottom; on one side is the crucified Christ between the busts of the four evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; he is portrayed wearing a sleeveless garment; the reverse depicts a stylised figure of the Virgin Mary in an orant prayer pose with the evangelists in the angles of the cross. Fine with wear to the facial details £60-£80
