Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (1086 Geoe. Tygart 101st Foot) pawnbrokers mark to rim near suspension, contact marks and edge bruising, nearly very fine £80-£100

George Tygart was born in 1828 at Killashea, Fermanagh, Ireland, and attested for the 101st Foot (1st Bengal European Regiment) in March 1848, at the age of 20. He was awarded the Indian Mutiny Medal with clasps for Delhi and Lucknow, and the India General Service Medal 1854 with clasp for Umbeyla. He received a bullet wound to the right shoulder on 15 December 1863, at Crag Piquet, in the Umbeyla Expedition, and was discharged at Cawnpore in October 1867, after 19 years’ service, being no longer fit for active service.
