Gordon William Lockhart was born at Port Elizabeth on 12 January 1896 and attested for the South African Air Force on 2 July 1940. He served during the Second World War as a Carpenter and Fitter, and was promoted Acting Corporal on 1 July 1942, serving with 25 Squadron. He was discharged on 26 February 1946.
