Charles Goodyer (also recorded as Goodyear) was born at Kilburn and attested for the Middlesex Regiment at Mill Hill, Middlesex. He served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 11 August 1914, and died of wounds at No. 2 Casualty Clearing Hospital, Bailleul, on 1 November 1914, following the action at La Boutillerie during the Battle of Armentières. He is buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery, Nord, France. He is listed with a brief entry in the ‘De Ruvigny’s Roll of Honour’.
