The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Military) Member’s 2nd type lady’s shoulder badge, silver, on lady’s bow riband, in Royal Mint case of issue, nearly extremely fine £140-£180

M.B.E. London Gazette 1 January 1946.

Eugenie Violet Millar was commissioned Second Subaltern in the Auxiliary Territorial Service on 28 August 1942, and served with the West Kent Sub District Group at Chatham during the Second World War. She was awarded the M.B.E. in the 1946 New Year’s Honours’ List, in part for the ‘splendid work which you did at Dover when in command of “A” Company during the troublous times when we were subjected to bombing, shelling, and V weapons.’ (letter with lot refers).

Sold together with the named Bestowal Document for the M.B.E.; named Buckingham Palace enclosure; Eastern Command Certificate of Appreciation of Good Services; and a letter to the recipient congratulating her on the award of the M.B.E. from Major-General E. G. Miles, C.B., D.S.O., M.C., dated 22 January 1946.
