A Regency glass seal desk set, circa 1805, the faceted purple glass handled seal with reeded mounts and six interchangeable purple glass intaglio seal matrices, each individually engraved with motto and bearing original paper labels, the mottos reading:

‘I respond to every touch’ - with image of winged harp after Nike, Greek goddess of Victory
‘For further particulars enquire within’
‘A letter soothes the pain of absence’
‘The Eyes of all, the Heart of one’- with image of basket of fruits
‘Such is life’ - with image of ship in tempestuous seas
‘Fidelity’ - with image of recumbent dog

contained in original gilt tooled fitted box, marbled paper to the base, seal length 7.0cm, glass matrices dimensions 13.5 x 11.5 x 6.5mm, box length 9.8cm.
