Provenance: Baldwin’s, August 1965.

Thomas Harold Toynbee was born in Acton, Middlesex on 26 December 1877 and joined the Honourable Artillery Company in 1899. He served with the No. 1 Company, Mounted Infantry, City Imperial Volunteers in South Africa during the Boer War and later served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the Great War. He died in Cowichan Valley, British Colombia, Canada in 1955.
