Gds.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (849. Sergt. E. Lane 1st. Dragn. Gds.); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue (E. Lane. 6th. Dgn. Gds.) contemporarily engraved naming, plugged and fitted with Crimea-style suspension, heavy contact marks and edge bruising, otherwise nearly very fine (4) £500-£700

Edward Lane attested for the 6th Dragoon Guards, and served with them during the Crimean War, and in India during the Great Sepoy Mutiny, where he was slightly wounded at Narnoul on 16 November 1857.
