Donaldson No. 3 By. 1st Bde. S.I. Dn. R.A.); Khedive's Star 1884-6, unnamed as issued, mounted as worn and contained in fitted leather case with provision for miniatures, light contact pitting, otherwise good very fine (3) £400-£500
Frederick Leverton Donaldson was appointed Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery on 1 October 1882; Captain, 1 November 1891; Major, 13 July 1900. He served with the Nile Expedition in 1884-85, and was present in the engagement at Abu Klea Wells on the 16th and 17th February (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive’s Star). Also served with the Soudan Frontier Field Force in 1885-86, and was present in the engagement at Ginnis. Served with the Hazara Expedition in 1888 (Medal with Clasp). Major Donaldson was afterwards placed on the Reserve of Officers, with gratuity from Royal Artillery, with the Needles Division Submarine Miners.
