Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Central India (Lieut. I. Irwin, 88th Regt.) fitted with silver ribbon buckle, dark toned, nearly extremely fine £300-£360

John Irwin was appointed Ensign in the 88th Foot on 1 May 1855; Lieutenant, 26 October 1855; Captain 14 February 1872; retired to pension with rank of Major, 13 March 1878. Served with the 88th Regiment in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58, including the affair of Bhognapore, siege of Lucknow in 1858, siege of Calpee, and subsequent campaign in Oude (Medal with Clasp for Central India).
