Waterloo 1815 (Edward Townsend, 6th or Inniskilling Drag.) fitted with steel clip and bar suspension, overall contact wear, otherwise nearly very fine £2,000-£2,600

Provenance: Glendining’s, March 1989.

Edward Townsend was born in the Parish of Ballyclog, near Moneymore, County Londonderry, and attested for the 6th Dragoons at Londonderry on 2 June 1812, aged 17. He served ‘eight months in Flanders and France during the campaign of 1815’ and was in Captain Hon. Sholto Douglas’s Troop at Waterloo. He was discharged on 12 November 1833 with a total service of 22 years 164 days, including Waterloo service.

Sold with copied discharge papers, including a lengthy and detailed surgeon’s report.
