Volunteer Force Long Service Medal, E.VII.R. (1114 Sapr: T. Redman. 1st D. & S. R.E.V.) very fine £50-£70

Thomas Richard Redman was born in Kent in 1863. He served in the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry Volunteer Corps from May 1880 to April 1885. After a two year break, in April 1887, he re-enlisted as a Sapper in the Somerset Royal Engineers Volunteers and remained with them until March 1908. He then served in the Wessex Division, Royal Engineers (Territorial Force) from June 1908 to January 1919. In 1925, after a five year correspondence with the Royal Engineers Record Office in Chatham, Redman was able to provide proof of his early service and was awarded the Territorial Efficiency Medal.

Sold with copied research including a photograph of F Company (WSM) Royal Engineers Volunteers (South African and Long Service Medallists 1908) with all men, including the recipient, identified.
