Medal presented 19 May 1920: ‘Chief Inspector Crane was in charge of the police in King's County and had to deal with disorders in connection with Land Agitation and Sinn Fein. Throughout his 40 years’ service he has performed his duties in a very satisfactory manner’ (Irish Times 29 May 1920 refers)
