Thomas Bolton was born in the Parish of Houghton, near Blackburn, Lancashire, and enlisted into the Coldstream Guards on 6 February 1800, aged sixteen. He was discharged in London on 7 June 1816, in consequence of ‘having bad general health, the effect of service in Egypt and different parts of Europe.’ He was admitted to pension of 9d per diem towards the end of the same month, increased to 1s from 5 March 1823, and died on 11 June 1854.
