William Easter served with the 90th (Perthshire Volunteers) Light Infantry in both the Crimea and in India during the Great Sepoy Mutiny, where the regiment took part in the operations against Lucknow as part of Havelock’s First Relief Force, and at the capture of Lucknow on 21 March 1858.
