J. Clark, a native of Whitley Bay, Northumberland, was born on 26 January 1935 and attested for the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He served on operations in Kenya during the Mau Mau Rebellion, and in Oman during the Arabian Peninsula operations, before transferring into the Royal Corps of Transport and seeing further service in Borneo and Northern Ireland, and on United Nations Peacekeeping duties in Cyprus. He was discharged on 2 February 1990.
