Sampson Bernstein was born on 15 August 1904 in Shoreditch, London, and served during the Second World War as a Corporal, before being granted an Emergency Commission as Second Lieutenant in the Army Catering Corps on 26 April 1946,. He was advanced Temporary Captain on 16 June 1947, and Temporary Major on 16 December 1948. He served with the Corps in Cyprus and subsequently as a Specialist Messing Officer. He died in 1979 and is confirmed on the WW2 AJEX (The Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women) roll.
Sold with various photocopied extracts from the Army Catering Corps Journal- in one particular article he was present in the Canal Zone in Egypt in 1954, thus most likely entitled to the clasp Canal Zone to the General Service Medal.
