J. Dick was native of Motherwell, Scotland, and served during the Great War as a Sergeant with the 6th Battalion, Royal Scots. After the war he resided at 10 Oxford Terrace, Brotton Road, Carlin How, Yorkshire.

Sold with the following original documentation: Fourth Army Commander’s Certificate of Congratulation on the occasion of the award of the recipient’s M.M., dated 15 February 1919; letter of congratulation written by the Town Clerk of Motherwell to the recipient on the occasion of the award of his M.M., dated 4 July 1919; post war correspondence between the Infantry Record Office and recipient relating to his M.M. and Bar; newspaper cuttings.
