India General Service 1936-39, 2 clasps, North West Frontier 1936-37, North West Frontier 1937-39 (5882976 Pte. J. S. Tookey. North’n R.) 2nd clasp loose on riband, very fine £140-180

Joseph Stanley Tookey was born in December 1913, and attested for the Northamptonshire Regiment at Colchester in July 1932. He served with the 1st Battalion in India, December 1934 - March 1939. Having advanced to Lance-Corporal, Tookey transferred to the South Wales Borderers in November 1941, and served in Iraq until May 1942. He transferred to the Kings Own Royal Regiment in August 1942, and served in Egypt until June 1943. Tookey transferred to The Loyal Regiment in January 1944, and was posted to Holding Operational Commando, 22 May 1944 - 24 July 1945, before transferring to the Reserve in February 1946. He was mobilised for service in Malaya with the Suffolk Regiment, 1949-51 (entitled G.S.M. with ‘Malaya’ clasp), before being entitled to the UN Korea Medal 1950-54, for service with the Northamptonshire Regiment. Tookey advanced to Sergeant and was finally discharged in October 1957.
