Arthur John Stokes died on active service on 15 April 1918, while serving in the 171st Company, Labour Corps. He had earlier served in the Devonshire Regiment. The son of Mrs. L. and the late Mr. W. Stokes of Heavitree, Exeter, he was buried in St. Pierre Cemetery, Amiens.
