Lot

№ 1024

.

19 September 2018

Estimate: £600–£800

Richard III, Cross and Pellets coinage, Penny, Dublin or Waterford, mm. unclear, annulets at neck, rev. quatrefoil in centre, 0.39g/1h (cf. Burns W-17R; S 6411). Very small of flan and slightly chipped, otherwise fine or better, extremely rare £300-400

This obverse die is made up from the same punches as Burns W-17R. On stylistic grounds it is certainly a coin of Richard III but which of the two mints it was struck at is open to question
