Miss Annie Crawford trained at the Belfast Infirmary and served during the Great War with the British Red Cross Society and the Order of St. John of Jerusalem in the Egyptian theatre of War from 25 August 1915, transferring to Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve on 10 October 1917. She was Mentioned in General Allenby’s Despatch of 5 March 1919, for ‘services with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force during the period 19 September 1918 to 31 January 1919’, and was discharged on 6 May 1919.
