Walter Houghton was born in Hognaston, Derbyshire, and attested for the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment, at Matlock, Derbyshire. He served with the 1st/6th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was present during the Second battle of Ypres, 22 April to 25 May 1915. He was killed in action on 7 June 1915, on which date the battalion was entrenched in the Kemmel Sector. He is buried in Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery, Belgium.

Leonard Houghton served with the Hawke Battalion, Royal Naval Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve during the Great War, and died on 23 August 1918. He is buried in Foncquevillers Military Cemetery, France.

Bertram Houghton was born in Matlock, Derbyshire on 10 November 1897, and attested there for the Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Force). He served with the 158th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action during the battle of Passchendaele on his 20th birthday, 10 November 1917. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
