1st Sussex Rifle Volunteers Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1880 - 87, a very fine example, the blue cloth skull complete with all plated fittings, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel overlay and a circular strap ‘1st Sussex Rifle Volunteers’, in the centre on a ground of dark brown velvet a strung bugle horn, the plate is original to the helmet, buff leather sweat band but lacking silk lining, very good overall condition £400-500
