China 1900, 1 clasp, Relief of Pekin (R. Barton, Pte. R.M., H.M.S. Endymion.) edge bruise, otherwise nearly extremely fine and a scarce casualty £500-600

Robert Barton was born in Grays, Essex, on 14 July 1880 and enlisted in the Royal Marines in London on 29 March 1898. Posted to the Portsmouth Division, he served in H.M.S. Endymion from 7 June 1899, and saw action aboard her in China during the Boxer Rebellion. He was killed in action by a bullet to the brain at Hsiku on 23 June 1900.
