Military General Service 1793-1814, 6 clasps, Salamanca, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse (Wm. Mason, 42nd. Foot.) traces of lacquer, edge bruising, very fine £1400-1800

Provenance: Glendining’s, May 1916 and June 1947.

William Mason served with the 42nd Foot (Black Watch) in the Peninsula and in Captain James Stirling’s Company during the Waterloo Campaign, 16-18 June 1815. His Waterloo Medal was sold at Baldwin’s in 1953.

Note: One other man named William Mason served with the 42nd Foot, and received an M.G.S. with 2 clasps. This medal was last sold in 2005.
