Thomas Fitzpatrick was born on 22 June 1871, at Bankfoot, Perthshire, and enlisted into the Royal Highlanders at Perth on 20 June 1893. He was posted as missing in action after Magersfontein on 11 December 1899, but his discharged papers show that he was severely wounded by a gun shot to the groin and presumably taken prisoner. After his release he served in South Africa for the remainder of the war. He served in India from February 1904 to September 1914, and entered the war in France on 12 October 1914. He was wounded whilst fighting in the front line trenches by Rue de Bois during the period 16-19 May 1915, being invalided home and discharged on 17 August 1915. He died at home in Leith on 9 December 1932. His medals are mounted in a custom made wooden display case and are sold with detailed research including confirmation of the Delhi Durbar medal.
