Royal Marine Light Infantry Officer’s 1896 Pattern Sword, the 82 cm bright blade by Henry Wilkinson, London (39226) with broad part fuller and etched with the insignia, motto and full title of the Royal Marine Light Infantry, the Royal Arms, the EVIIR cypher, scrolling foliage and the owner’s initials in script ‘G.P.O.’ (Orde), sheet metal hand guard incorporating the EVIIR cypher, wire bound fish skin grip, together with its plated metal scabbard, sold with research details indicating that Orde had changed his name from Oppenheim, sword blade in very good condition, the handguard and other areas stained, the plating on the scabbard dull and lifting £260-360
