An original R.A.F. Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book appertaining to Flight Sergeant A. B. Maguire, Royal Air Force who flew as a Flight Engineer in Lancasters for 30 operational sorties with 115 and 149 Squadrons, covering the period March 1943 to March 1945, with a small annotated photograph of recipient and his crew whilst with 149 Squadron, generally reasonable condition £60-80

A. B. Maguire served during the Second War with the Royal Air Force, and qualified as a Flight Engineer in March 1943. He was posted for operational flying with 115 Squadron (Lancasters), East Wretham, in March 1943. He flew in 10 operational sorties with the Squadron, including: Duisburg (2); Berlin (2); Essen (2); Pilsen; Spezia; Dortmund and Dusseldorf. Subsequent postings included to No. 1657 H.C.U. and No. 3 L.F.S., Feltwell.

Maguire returned to operational flying when he was posted to 149 (East India) Squadron (Lancasters), Methold, in September 1944. He flew in 20 operational sorties with the Squadron, including: Calais (2); Saarbrucken; Dortmund; Duisburg (2); Bonn; Stuttgart; Nüess; Essen; Walcheren-Island; Homberg (3); Ickern; Heinburg; Gelsenkirchen; Merseberg; Siegberg; and Cologne, 28 December 1944, when his aircraft led a formation of 137 Lancasters for the raid. He saw out the remainder of the war at G.P.U. Flight, R.A.F. Ibsley.
