Arthur Mainwaring was born in Cwmayan, Glamorganshire, and attested for the South Wales Borderers at Ystradgynlais, Breconshire. He served during the Great War with the 6th Battalion, and died of wounds on the Western Front on 5 May 1918. He is buried in Arneke British Cemetery, France.
