R.E.); Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, G.V.R. (492094 Sjt: F. Birch. N.M.D.S. Coy. R.E.); Defence Medal, the first five mounted as worn, together with two Edward VII commemorative coronation medals, good very fine (6) £500-600

M.M. recommendation dated 18 June 1916:

‘Since his arrival in France in March 1915 has consistently done excellent work and shown gallantry in keeping communications during the attack on the Hohenzollern Redoubt in October 1915, when acted with with great courage.’

Sold with original hand written 137th Infantry Brigade recommendation for M.M., as detailed above, which also carries a recommendation for Corporal L. A. Jeffcott, a rare survival, and named forwarding card for Defence medal.
